Dear Visitor, Thank you for your interest in LCLAA-SGV, the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA), San Gabriel Valley (SGV). We are an organization dedicated to achieving social dignity, economic and political justice, and a decent standard of living for Latinos/Latinas. Your membership is vital for our success in making a real difference for our families and communities. Last year our members’ dedication, involvement and efforts led to successfully completing new and existing projects! We hosted our annual fiesta and awards ceremony. Six deserving students from our unions and community were awarded much needed scholarships to assist them in furthering their education. We proudly hosted our first ever Golf Tournament fundraiser, raising funds for this year’s scholarship fund and other projects focused on attaining our goals. In partnership with the Latino Roundtable our volunteers took part in immigration rights marches and hosted an Immigration Policy Forum. In addition, we held many voter registration drives. 2006 will be another year of action for the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of LCLAA. We are looking forward to our second Golf Tournament to be held at Montebello Golf Course and our annual Fiesta. We will be announcing the new 2006 scholarship recipients again this year! Our membership drive continues with our goal of 83 new members each month. We will continue to increase our joint efforts on programs with the Latino Roundtable including the Cesar Chavez Memorial March (set for April 8th), voter education and registration, work on immigration rights issues and a planned Latino Activists’ Conference. We will be actively increasing voter registration, education, turn-out and participation in the San Gabriel Valley in this crucial political year. Together we will make a difference for our families and communities. You can help make 2006 a successful year by: 1) becoming a member of LCLAA-SGV 2) inviting/recruiting others to join LCLAA 3) attending meetings, and 4) getting involved in activities.
